7-Year Old Boy Dead After Accident on I-83

At approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning, a Dodge Dart with five passengers pulled over into the right shoulder on I-83 to tend to a child in the rear seat. As the driver opened the rear passenger-side door, a pickup truck traveling southbound on I-83 crashed into the rear of the stopped vehicle.

The victim, a seven-year-old child, was catastrophically injured. A Good Samaritan transported the child and his father to GBMC. The child was then taken to Johns Hopkins Children's Center for further treatment, but was unfortunately pronounced deceased by hospital personnel. An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the crash. Police do not believe alcohol was a contributing factor. Charges against the pickup truck driver are pending the outcome of the investigation. The pickup truck driver reported no injuries.

Common Causes of Bus Accidents

Every day, thousands of residents and visitors to Maryland rely on bus transportation. When using buses to get around the state, passengers transfer their safety into the care of bus company owners and bus drivers.

Bus operators and owners have a legal obligation to protect the safety of their passengers. However, there are many instances where the reckless actions or omissions of such parties can lead to accidents, injury, loss, and death.

What To Do After a Car Accident

Car accidents can be life-altering, leading to various degrees of injury, expenses from medical treatment, loss of income, and death. Reports from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveal that in 2020, 38,680 people died in car accidents, and in the first half of 2021, the figure was 20,160.

Comparative Negligence in Truck Accident Cases

Accidents happen every day. Truck accidents are particularly dangerous and can result in catastrophic injuries or even death. A typical passenger vehicle is no match for a commercial truck weighing over 80,000 pounds.
